NBA Betting — 2010-2011 Pacers Preview

Article by Lynn Smith

The Indiana Pacers are a young team that probably will struggle against the NBA wagering odds this year. The Indiana Pacers merely have one demonstrated scorer in Danny Granger so on most evenings they are going to need to trust they get enough support from other players to be competitive. The Indiana Pacers still may be worth an NBA bet at times though since they will be long shots on a regular basis.

Lines to Win the NBA Title at the Sportsbook 150-1 – The Indiana Pacers are not going to win the NBA title this year. Those odds of 150-1 may too be a million to one. The Indiana Pacers basically don’t have enough skill to contend on a nightly basis in the NBA. They could still cover the spread nevertheless and that’s what matters when you make an NBA bet.

Last Year’s Record 32-50 SU, 40-41-2 ATS – The Indiana Pacers merely won 32 games last year and it may not get much greater this year. They were about .500 against the point spread last year. That number may go up basically due to the fact they are underrated.

Projected Starting LineupGuard — Darren CollisonGuard — Brandon RushCenter — Roy HibbertForward — Danny GrangerForward — Tyler Hansbrough

Prediction: The Indiana Pacers added Darren Collison in the off-season and he should assist them win a handful of more games this year. The Indiana Pacers required someone to run the floor and Collison can make it happen. He backed up Chris Paul in New Orleans and then started when Paul got hurt. He averaged 12.4 points and 5.7 assists in 76 games a year ago. Collison may take a lot of the strain off of Granger. Last year it was Granger doing it all for Indiana. The difficulty for the Indiana Pacers is that Granger and Collison are everything. Hansbrough is a hard worker but he does not score a lot. Hibbert is a defensive player who can not score while Rush is inconsistent. The Indiana Pacers can bring Mike Dunleavy Jr. off the sidelines and maybe he can do anything to earn his pay. The Indiana Pacers took Paul George in the NBA Draft and he seems like a major stretch since he most likely isn’t going to see much playing time since he competes the same position as Granger. The Indiana Pacers are not going to be a playoff team this year but they’ve got Granger and now they’ve got Collison so they can be competitive in NBA wagering on some evenings.

NBA Draft question by James: Do you need experience to enter the NBA Draft?
I don’t play for my high school and I won’t play in college but if I wanted to apply to enter the NBA Draft after college, could I? Or do I need to have playing experience? Just wondering.
I’ve played in Rec leagues and I’ll continue too so I have basic skills and I’m not hoping to get drafted.
